About Us
Zips Racing is a student design team at The University of Akron. We are a top competing Formula SAE Combustion team which competes internationally. Each year, students design, build, and race a car. Our team consists of 25 students with a wide range of backgrounds. We are open to any major, year of school, and level of experience. The only requirement is interest in learning more. Team Structure
Zips Racing is structured into different systems and subsystems. Each system and subsystem have a lead which oversee projects and tasks within the entire system. Members work within their system to discuss ideas, problems, and goals. Each system meets once a week to update on their progress and get approval on designs. The entire team also meets each Saturday morning to talk about the past week’s work and the plans for upcoming weeks.
